Meet Julia Malone, LMFT

Hi! I’m Julia (she/her). I am so glad you’re here!

Julia Malone has over 10 years of experience and is the founder of Balance and Bloom Therapy, a dynamic, San Diego, California based mental health practice staffed with relational therapists committed to treating clients who are wanting to manage life better, feel more connected to themself and others, and find their calm and confidence again. At Balance and Bloom therapy, we value being humans first and therapists second.

Therapeutic Approach

My therapeutic approach is grounded in relational therapy, which allows me to show up as an authentic human in sessions, rather than a blank slate. I get it, you are a real person looking for a real connection. Just because our relationship is therapeutic in nature does not mean it can’t be authentic. I draw from an eclectic range of modalities, including psychodynamic, attachment based, inner child and parts work , CBT and EMDR. I also use The Gottman Method and Emotionally Focused Therapy techniques with couples and families to aid in their connection and intimacy. My philosophy emphasizes looking at the whole person and the systems they are in, not just their symptoms, to promote wellness and healing.

Having personally navigated my own struggles with trusted therapists along the way, I offer a deep level of empathy and understanding. My approach not only integrates clinical expertise but also lived experience, making me a compassionate guide for others seeking wholeness, healing, and connection.

The most common dynamic she works with is Mother/Daughter duos wanting to work through old wounds to form a deep loving bond, its hard work but to damn worth it!

Outside of the office:

In my life outside of my career, I enjoy spending time with my wife and 3 children (8 years old & 5 year twins!) and adventuring to new places. I like to sing and am a lover of ALL music. I love a good audio book and have a passion for plants (there is NO SUCH THING as too many plants). I play on a kickball team and love to run. I truly look forward to getting to know you!
