The way I approach therapy…
What does it mean to be a person within our relationships, families, and cultures? How can we understand our purposes within an ever-evolving society and its ever-growing demands? How does living with psychological distress, in its various manifestations, affect how we understand and approach these questions? These and other questions fill my mind and soul and are the basis for the work I hope to pursue with the people I serve. I believe that the answers to these questions have the power to liberate and empower the people brave enough to seek them out and that much healing can be attained through their pursuit.
Let's not kid ourselves, these are BIG questions, with likely complex answers, but don't let that discourage you. There are clues that can direct these explorations found in the stories that surround and are within us. I see my role as a therapist as one of collaboration, exploration, and partnership as we explore your stories; past, present, and future.
My professional training:
I earned my Bachelor's degree at California State University, San Marcos in Psychological Science. During my time there I also worked as a Research Assistant in the Social and Affective Psychophysiology Lab for Dr. Daniel Berry, where we studied the connection between mindfulness and kindness.
I completed my Graduate Degree at Alliant International University in Couples and Family Therapy while serving students as a Couple and Family Therapist trainee at San Diego City College serving their diverse student population. I am especially proud of the LGBT Support group that I created during my time there and hope to launch something similar for the general public in the coming months.
My journey so far…
My path to becoming a therapist has been a long and twisting road. I found it difficult to engage in academic pursuits for most of my life, working primarily in food service. I enjoyed the work enough and was able to make ends meet. I had dreamed of being a therapist since around high school but did not believe that I could succeed academically, and I carried this story with me until one day I just sort of thought why not try? Soon, I realized that the idea that I could not succeed was not coming from within but instead was something I could work to deconstruct. The understanding and deconstructing of disempowering stories have been deeply freeing in my life and are gifts that I hope to share with the people I work with.
Outside of the therapy office, you can find me..
Surprising as it may be, given that I've spent all of my professional life in roles that have me talking to people for most of the day, I am an introvert. When I am not in session you can find me playing video games (PS5 Fan) with my friends, reading, or watching movies with my husband. I can also be seen hanging out with friends at various events around town, but then it's back inside for me!

I would be a good fit for therapy if you’re looking for…
A therapist who is warm, humorous, and sensitive
A place to explore your story and the meanings you have made about yourself, others, and your relationships
A place to process difficult pieces of your history and identity
Help through difficult relational issues, romantic or otherwise
A therapist who is BIPOC and/or LGBTQ identified
